Finally, tell a friend if you are benefiting from this site. A very happy mid February to everyone! I normally seem to start every year with a post about goals and faith to give us all some thoughts and encouragement to grow our faithfulness over the year. However, this year I started with a Journal Club segment (which you can view here if you missed it) that I thought was interesting and very useful especially for our neuro folks so they could have some practice ideas to think about this year. But, I wanted to circle back to the spiritual side of the New Year for this post. I don't know about you, but I finished 2025 a bit tired and worn out. I felt that the last several months of 2025 I was distracted from the things that really matter - like sharing the gospel, loving others well, etc. The Lord convicted me of that and challenged me to focus this year on communing with Him. That means talking to Him frequently. Walking in His ways. Praying daily, without ceasing, and in all circumstances about anything and everything. Being still to hear from Him. As I was thinking about all that and setting my heart in that posture for this year, wouldn't you know, our Pastor gave a great sermon on abiding in Christ a couple of Sundays ago. God has a way of doing that, doesn't he? Something we may be convicted about gets reinforced from a pastor, family member, close friend. It's so cool. But, my pastor provided a great acronym to think about abiding more in Christ this year and I wanted to share it with you in case you were feeling and thinking similarly. Anchor Your Life in God's Word - Get in it. Know it. And let it shape you. Belong in God's Church - More than just attendance or association, find connection in the body of Christ. Intensify Your Focus on Spiritual Formation - Strive toward Jesus with you attention, affection, and ambition. Declare a Turning Point - Take a stand. Pray deliberately. Be a contender for the faith without being contentious. Engage in Jesus Conversations - Know who he is. Enjoy him. Speak of him with others. I know, this is exactly what I needed to hear to help my heart, my attitudes, and my actions realign with my calling - to be a light in my family and my workplace in the year ahead. I hope you also find this encouraging and challenging. I'd love to hear from you if any one of these points resonates with you. Let's go get after it for our King Jesus this year wherever we live and work!
